If you consider that God is righteous, you also know that everyone who acts in righteousness is begotten by him. See what love the Father has bestowed on us that we may be called the children of God. Yet so we are. The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we shall be has not yet been revealed. We do know that when it is revealed we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is. Everyone who has this hope based on him makes himself pure, as he is pure. Everyone who commits sin commits lawlessness, for sin is lawlessness. You know that he was revealed to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who remains in him sins; no one who sins has seen him or known him.
REFLECTION
No one who remains in him sins; no one who sins has seen him or known him.
It is always good to review the First Saturday Devotion for those who are not familiar with it or need a synopsis. The First Saturday devotion is rooted in the Fatima apparitions, focusing on making reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary for offenses against her, such as denying the Immaculate Conception, her virginity, her Divine Motherhood, and for those who cause children to be indifferent toward her.
Our Lady of Fatima appeared to Sister Lucia in Fatima in 1925.These were her instructions. For five consecutive months the first Saturday is prayed with sacramental Confession on day of or within 20 days, Holy Communion on this day with proper intention, praying for the Pope's intentions, reciting the full rosary, and meditating for 15 minutes on its mysteries. All these are done with the intentions to console Mary and obtain graces for salvation and conversion of sinners.
With this devotion the Catholic Church offers a full remission of temporal punishment for sins if the above specific acts of reparation to the Immaculate Heart of Mary are performed.
Those who fulfill the devotion are promised assistance at the hour of death with the graces necessary for salvation.
God Bless You.
