THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME, NOVEMBER 14, 2021

Responsorial Psalm Ps 16:5, 8, 9-10, 11

R. (1) You are my inheritance, O Lord! O LORD, my allotted portion and my cup, you it is who hold fast my lot. I set the LORD ever before me; with him at my right hand I shall not be disturbed. R. You are my inheritance, O Lord! Therefore my heart is glad and my soul rejoices, my body, too, abides in confidence; because you will not abandon my soul to the netherworld, nor will you suffer your faithful one to undergo corruption. R. You are my inheritance, O Lord! You will show me the path to life, fullness of joys in your presence, the delights at your right hand forever. R. You are my inheritance, O Lord!

REFLECTION

You are my inheritance, O Lord!

It was his mother's birthday so four year old Rhett B wanted to go to the store. He said he had money. He thought he had a dollar bill and thirteen cents. There was no dollar bill but only thirteen cents in his wallet. We discussed that I would pay for the gift but he had to work it off by cleaning his room. Off we went to the store. At first, he was overwhelmed with the stuffed toys and the glittery Christmas displays that he forgot he was there for his mother. He had forgotten he did not have that much money.

We finally made it to the toiletry section and he picked out a hand made lavender soap which was sixty two cents. At the register he took out his thirteen cents to pay.

It reminded me of how we pay off that which Jesus paid for us by His death. It is impossible for us to pay off the amount owed, much less the tax on it or even the interest.

God is our inheritance, no attachments, no expenses, no pending account. His Kingdom is ours. He watches over us and waits to see us Face to Face. We praise and thank God continuously for all He has done for us.

God Bless You
