“Or what woman having ten coins and losing one would not light a lamp and sweep the house, searching carefully until she finds it?

And when she does find it, she calls together her friends and neighbors and says to them, ‘Rejoice with me because I have found the coin that I lost.’

In just the same way, I tell you, there will be rejoicing among the angels of God over one sinner who repents.”

(Lk 15:8-9)

REFLECTION

How much are we worth? We often hear that so-and-so is worth this many millions or this many trillions of dollars; but, that's the wrong rule of measure; love, rather, is the proper rule of measure for the worth of someone we love and their soul - this is God's rule of measure too! To reinforce this viewpoint, what is the value of your wife or your husband or your son or your daughter or your mother or father or brother or sister, and their soul, when you lose them? The answer is: we would give anything to have them back, whole!!! Even this is a poor example to demonstrate the enormous love that Jesus has for us; He would die for you, and He did!

If we could have our precious ones back, even so, it would still be for be a finite time. Jesus wants each one of us, for all eternity. How can we possibly reject this?
