TUESDAY OF HOLY WEEK

GOSPEL John 13:38

"Will you lay down your life for me?

Amen, amen, I say to you, the cock will not crow

before you deny me three times."

REFLECTION

"Will you lay down your life for me?"

This is a hard question to answer.

Even though Peter said he would die for Jesus, when confronted with knowing Him, he could not admit that he knew Him. Why?

Was it fear of losing his own life?

It didn't take Peter long to deny knowing Jesus. It only took a few hours before daybreak to go back on his word.

"Are you not also among the disciples of this man?"

(John 18:17)

Again Peter was asked, "Are you not also one of his disciples?" (John 18:25)

And then the relative of the high priest's servant whose ear was cut off by Peter asked, "Did I not see you in the garden with him?" (John 18:26)

And for the third time, Peter denied he was with Jesus. "And immediately the rooster crowed." (John 18:27)

How much do you love Jesus? Will you give your life to testify that you know Him? One day you, too, will be asked, "Do you know Jesus?"

How will you answer?

Let us pray that the Holy Spirit will give us the courage to say, "I do know Jesus. He is my Redeemer. He is my Savior and I owe Him my life."

Here are the morning and evening meditations for Tuesday of Holy Week
