TUESDAY OF THE SEVENTH WEEK OF EASTER

"I pray for them.

I do not pray for the world but for the ones you have given me,

because they are yours, and everything of mine is yours

and everything of yours is mine,

and I have been glorified in them.

And now I will no longer be in the world,

but they are in the world, while I am coming to you." (John 17:9-11)

Jesus' prayer after the Last Supper is called, "The High Priestly Prayer."

It is so wise of the Holy Catholic Church to remind us that Jesus consecrated (means - to make something or someone sacred, to separate keep them apart from the world) His apostles. In Exodus 28:3 God consecrated Aaron and "set him apart" from the rest of the tribes in order for him to offer sacrifice and intercede for the sinfulness of the Israelites.

Jesus is calling on God the Father to consecrate these men, His Apostles, because God will be glorified by them. How will God share His glory with the new priests? When Jesus consecrated the bread and wine at the Last Supper and His glory, His body, blood, soul, and divinity entered into the bread (His body) and wine (the precious blood) then we could consume his glory in the Holy Eucharist.

Through all the priests we can share in the Glory of God every time we receive the Holy Eucharist. Jesus continued his prayer and prayed that through these priests in their preaching, they will announce to all the world the great love the Father has for us.

During May and June, we will be celebrating with many of our PAPA Priests their Priestly Ordinations. We must pray with all our hearts that these consecrated Priests will continue to spread the gospel so God's love will be made known. Also, we pray that they will continue to offer sacrifice for our sins so that we may receive His glory in the Holy Eucharist.

Please, join us in praying the PAPA Prayer for Priests for all priests to be obedient to God the Father and to live their consecrated life as Jesus did.
