and not one of you asks me, 'Where are you going?'
But because I told you this, grief has filled your hearts.
But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go.
For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you.
But if I go, I will send him to you.
And when he comes he will convict the world
in regard to sin and righteousness and condemnation:
sin, because they do not believe in me;
righteousness, because I am going to the Father
and you will no longer see me;
condemnation, because the ruler of this world has been condemned."
REFLECTION
'Where are you going?'
"They are waiting for me," my mother said. I asked, "Who is waiting for you? She answered, "You know who." My mother spoke these words two days before she died.
Mother was not afraid to die, unlike before. A year before Mother would get scared and say that she was not ready to die. I would ask her, "Why?" Her answer was, "Because I am not good enough." I told her, "No human is good enough, only the Blessed Mother Mary. Trust in Jesus' mercy. He loves you. "
The next day the Priest came to give her Viaticum ( Confession and Holy Communion). Then he anointed her. She was happy and joking with him. That evening she became weak. My sister, nieces, sons, grandchildren, and many of her PAPA family called or came to pray, hug, and tell her they loved her. She died peacefully by the next afternoon, May 9, 2023.
I miss my mother, but I know that the ones who came for her were good. She was not afraid of them.
In the Gospel, Jesus tells his disciples that he is leaving. He knows that grief will fill their hearts. In His place He will send the Holy Spirit and He will guide them. The Holy Spirit is working through PAPA now.
PAPA members receive 17 benefits. The second benefit is that all PAPA members (lay, Priests, and religious) will be present with you in prayer at death. My mother was blessed by the presence of the 399 PAPA members praying for her.
