Gospel

"Why are you terrified, O you of little faith?"

REFLECTION

What were the odds of the military colonists defeating Great Britian? George Washington was the obvious choice as Commander-in-Chief for the Continental Army against the British.

However, he had a difficult presidency. Newspapers ridiculed him, his secretary of state quit on him, his cabinet quit on him and funding for the war was hard to come by.

Along the way to freedom there were many problems. Many lost their lives or lost all they had but with perseverance and diligence the army succeeded. And George Washington became the first President of the United States. Faith likewise reminds us of the struggle. There have been many saints defending the faith, martyrs dying for their love for Jesus and the right and freedom to live out religious beliefs.

What God sets in motion, it will happen. We work and cooperate with Him. There is no reason to be terrified, but keep our faith in His love and mercy.

Happy Independence Day!

God bless you.
