Gospel Matthew 7:6, 12-14
Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine, lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.“Do to others whatever you would have them do to you. This is the Law and the Prophets.“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.”
REFLECTION
“Enter through the narrow gate; for the gate is wide and the road broad that leads to destruction, and those who enter through it are many. How narrow the gate and constricted the road that leads to life. And those who find it are few.”
There are two gates; two choices. One gate is wide and the other is narrow. One choice is to live a life that leads to destruction. The other choice is to live a life that leads to life.
What kind of gate leads us to destruction? Would it be a life of sin? Is it a choice to be self-centered, greedy, hateful, and unforgiving?
What kind of gate leads us to life? Would it be a choice to be unselfish, generous, loving, and forgiving, or in other words Christ-like?
It is our choice. God gave us free will. We can do our will or will we can follow Jesus' example and do the Father's Will, God's Will.
Jesus taught us one prayer, the Our Father.
Our Father, which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.
And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory for ever; Amen.
