Tuesday of the Twenty-fifth Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel Lk 8:19-21

"He said to them in reply, 'My mother and my brothers

are those who hear the word of God and act on it'." (Luke 8:21)

REFLECTION

"He said to them in reply, 'My mother and my brothers

are those who hear the word of God and act on it'." (Luke 8:21)

Was Jesus insulting His own Mother, Mary? No, in fact, Jesus is stating the truth. He is pointing out that you must be like His Mother, Mary, because she does "hear the word of God and acts on it."

Jesus' mother, Mary, is the perfect disciple of Jesus. Mary helped the Apostles spread Jesus' message after he ascended into heaven. Even after her death and Assumption into heaven, she continued to Evangelize and spread God's word. She has appeared in many forms to bring her Son's message to us here on Earth.

Our Lady of Guadalupe appeared to Juan Diego in 1530 and converted 9 million indigenous in Mexico.

Let us pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe and St. Juan Diego to live in God's Will and be disciples of Jesus.

Here is an excerpt of a prayer prayed during a recent Pilgrimage to Mexico...

Day 2

"O Virgin, Immaculate,

O Queen of the human race

Conceived with no sin nor dirt,

I come to your throne of grace,

Filled with heartfelt devotion

As your fervent Mexicans -

Your children who cried in hurt

By dreaded evil serpant,

Your children need your presence

Who call your name: "The Virgin -

"Mother of Guadalupe -

"The Crusher of Evil Snakes -

Secure me for your name's sake:

A lively faith and sure hope

In God's plan and providence.

May His will be done on earth

As you have done in heaven." (written by Fr. Michael J.Truongluan)

Let us pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe to teach us to bring her message of God's salvation as she

taught St. Juan Diego.
