Tuesday of the Twenty-ninth Week of Ordinary Time

ree

Alleluia Luke 21:36

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Be vigilant at all times and pray that you may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man.

R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Jesus said to his disciples: "Gird your loins and light your lamps and be like servants who await their master's return from a wedding, ready to open immediately when he comes and knocks. Blessed are those servants whom the master finds vigilant on his arrival. Amen, I say to you, he will gird himself, have them recline at table, and proceed to wait on them. And should he come in the second or third watch and find them prepared in this way, blessed are those servants."

REFLECTION

Our Gospel readings these past few days are reminding us to be prepared!

Prepared for what? Be ready for battle. Be ready and persistent in asking. Be ready and keep your lamps lit for the master's arrival.

A soldier prepares for battle by keeping himself or herself strong. They keep up with training for different kinds of situations. They have to be ready whenever they are called.

A student has to be ready to learn, to read, and do the practice to understand the subject. They must be ready to take the test to prove their understanding.

How do we as Catholics prepare? We can prepare by listening to God's Words and by taking Bible Study class to understanding what Jesus is teaching. Daily prayer can help us store up spiritual strength, courage, and love for God. Participating in receiving the Sacraments can add to our storing graces for when we need it.

May we all listen to God's message. BE PREPARED! BE VIGILANT! BE PERSISTENT IN PRAYER! BE FAITHFUL TO GOD!

Keep the flame of your faith lit.
