REFLECTION
" A great prophet has arisen in our midst
and God has visited his people."
There have been many prophets in the Old Testament, minor and major ones.
All spoke the message of God to the people. They were laughed at, chased, beaten, tortured, and put to death.
God himself came to be with his people. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to carry out His plan to redeem us. The prophets of the Old Testament told the people about the Messiah, who would set them free. Still, they were not sure whether or not Jesus was the Messiah. The apostles were not totally convinced even when Jesus appeared to them after the Resurrection. Thomas needed to touch his wounds to know that Jesus rose from the dead. Jesus said, You have seen me, Thomas, so you have believed. Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."(John 20:29)
How stubborn and hard-hearted are we, human beings!
God has not finished with us. He sends us beautiful people as examples of those who are blessed with faith. St. Mother Teresa of Kolkata showed us how to see Jesus in the faces of the poor, sick, abandoned, and even those who are lost. She spread God's message one smile and one person at a time. There are several movies about her life. "No Greater Love" is the most recent movie about her life and love for Jesus Christ.
Today we celebrate St. Mother Teresa's Feast Day with all the Missionaries of Charity.
St. Mother Teresa was an inspiration and a powerful example of how her faith and love for Jesus can save souls.
Here is St. Mother Teresa's favorite prayer:
Dear Jesus, help me to spread Thy fragrance everywhere I go. Flood my soul with Thy spirit and love. Penetrate and possess my whole being so utterly that all my life may only be a radiance of Thine. Shine through me and be so in me that every soul I come in contact with may feel Thy presence in my soul.
