Tuesday of the Twenty-sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Gospel Lk 9:51-56

When the days for Jesus to be taken up were fulfilled, he resolutely determined to journey to Jerusalem, and he sent messengers ahead of him. On the way they entered a Samaritan village to prepare for his reception there, but they would not welcome him because the destination of his journey was Jerusalem. When the disciples James and John saw this they asked, "Lord, do you want us to call down fire from heaven to consume them?" Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they journeyed to another village.

REFLECTION

In the Gospel James and John are disappointed in the response of the Samaritans to Jesus' passing through their town on his way to Jerusalem. 'They ask Jesus if they should call down "fire from heaven to consume them." But Jesus replies by rebuking them and he continues to the next town on his way to Jerusalem.

I am a member of PAPA. Our mission is to Pray, Serve, and Bless all those we meet on our way. As we journey we will share our PAPA Prayer for Priests and make them PAPA members. If a person doesn't seem interested in praying we must "bless" them and go on our way. Our seed, the Prayer for Priests, has been planted. We must pray that the Holy Spirit will bless them and the seed will grow in their hearts.

Let us pray the PAPA Prayer for Priests.
