WEDNESDAY OF THE FIFTEENTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME JULY 14, 2021 ST KATERI TEKAKWITHA

A reading according to the holy Gospel according to Mt 11:25-27

At that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father. No one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son wishes to reveal him.”

REFLECTION

you have revealed them to the childlike.

We have all been around charismatic people — they draw people in to them.

When Father Jacques de Lamberville met young Catherine Tekakwitha he knew she was special. She had such joy and courage when talking about Jesus and working for the missionaries. After all, her father had been a heathen Iroquois and her mother a Christian Algonquin.

She was Spirit filled! Known as the “Lily of the Mohawks“ she was made fun of because of her scarred smallpox face. She was shunned because of her conversion. She did many physical sacrifices in repentance and atonement for sins.

Imagine the opposition and hardship from her fellow Indians and family.

She was truly childlike. The Son revealed Himself to her. It is said that at the time of her death her body changed. Her face became radiant with no more scars.

Pray to be childlike enduring all in thanksgiving sacrifice for repentance and atonement of sins, praying especially for our priests.

God bless you.
