Gospel Mk 1:29-39

REFLECTION

"not permitting them to speak"

We are given opportunities to grow in patience, kindness and gentleness every moment of our lives. People annoy us and some can be troublesome, offensive or tiresome. We don't have to respond to them in a negative manner.

Realizing that personality offenses go both ways--they annoy me or I annoy them, what are we to do? We concentrate on the situation we can control: that would be our reaction to them. Then surrender that problem to God.

Yes, we could avoid them, shun them or not include them in our activities. Worse scenario would be to talk ill of them, thereby convicting others of how much we are suffering because of these annoying people in our lives.

Or we could use these moments to work on becoming holy. Take advantage that God is allowing us to grow in true humility, kindness and gentleness when we are given the incomparable virtues of the situation provided by Him. God has given us a responsibility for that soul, entrust them into His sacred hands.

Forgive, encourage, help them back to the right path, say kind words and sometimes just be silent. Do it willingly all for God. Listen and never let them be a burden to you. Your time is God's time; He has placed you where you are.

God Bless You.
