A reading from the Acts of the Apostles 12:24-13:5a
The word of God continued to spread and grow.
After Barnabas and Saul completed their relief mission, they returned to Jerusalem, taking with them John, who is called Mark.
Now there were in the Church at Antioch prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Symeon who was called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen who was a close friend of Herod the tetrarch, and Saul. While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” Then, completing their fasting and prayer, they laid hands on them and sent them off.
So they, sent forth by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and from there sailed to Cyprus. When they arrived in Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues.
REFLECTION: While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.”
Worshiping, fasting and obeying in faith.
We must choose to be with God. We must choose to be in union with Christ. Christ promised us that all who believed in Him would have life everlasting. This life is the Holy Spirit. Jesus lived on this earth to show us the love of God for us. Believe in His love.
The more we worship, fast and obey, the more we fall in love with our Father. This is not a treasure to be kept by us and shared only when it is convenient or only when we need someone or something. It is a treasure that we must share. The light is in us and we can start by praying that our family and many will be open to the Word. The Holy Spirit is in charge of these endeavors because alone we could not do it.
At His beckoning or nudging, share your love with the people who are part of your day. Pray for His words and His inspiration. Have faith that the Holy Spirit is in you directing the happenings of your life. And we can just hear it, "Set apart for me (Your Name) for the work to which I have called them."
God Bless You
