Jesus said to the crowds: "Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest". Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."
REFLECTION
Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.
My mother, in her 70’s, learned how to burn and rip CDs, not because she had intuitive skills but because my cousin patiently taught and showed her how to make good use of her computer
She would always tell him, ”Que Dios te lo pague” (“ May God pay you”). I am convinced it was all those blessings poured on him by my mom that gave him the patience, kindness and joy in helping her. He never let her think she was a nuisance or “hard to teach”.
In today’s Gospel we are told to come to Jesus all who are burdened and He will give us rest. We are to be confident in coming to Him because He does not grow weary, disinterested, impatient or critical. He wants us to come to Him so He can give us life and strength with an invitation to call on Him when we are lost or just to speak with Him.
May we grow in sanctity with Jesus as our teacher who waits for us in the Holy Eucharist. This is where we will find true peace and joy.
