"the desires of man’s heart are evil from the start"
Bishop Muriel lived a very frugal life. He converted his palace into a hospital, donated his income, stipends and monies for expenses to feed the poor, to give alms to the needy and lived with the bare essentials. All was done for the love of God. He was the face of Christ in a land of hatred, indifference, fighting and unlawful laws. He planted the seeds of faith and hope and many changed. (Bishop Muriel is a fictitional priest in Victor Hugo's Les Miserables).
Though "the desires of man's heart are evil from the start", God never gives up on him. Yes, man can create hell on earth, allow the starvation and privation of food and dignity, and divorce himself of God.
But God is present living among us. Talking to us through the Scriptures, through His priests. He challenges us to act on the little faith we have so as to increase our faith by stepping out in faith.
He gave the blind man sight though later on in His ministry Jesus condemned Bethshaida for its lack of conversion. (Matthew 11:21)
God continues to work miracles-both physical and spiritual. And it is in this promise of new creation and new life we hope and trust in a stronger faith.
Jesus is the Head Priest. We want our priests to be like Jesus. Remember the priests were chosen by God. They are weak and sinful just like you and I. Keep them in prayer. Faith is strengthened by prayer and prayer is emboldened by fasting. PAPA prayer for priests
