A reading from the holy Gospel according to Jn 16:12-15
Jesus said to his disciples:“I have much more to tell you, but you cannot bear it now.But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,he will guide you to all truth. He will not speak on his own,but he will speak what he hears, and will declare to you the things that are coming. He will glorify me,because he will take from what is mine and declare it to you.Everything that the Father has is mine;for this reason I told you that he will take from what is mineand declare it to you.”
REFLECTION
But when he comes, the Spirit of truth,he will guide you to all truth.
There have been instances when the Catholic teaching of the True Presence of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist has been heretically blurred by teachings, innuendos, and fear of offending. Lay people, and most unfortunately, religious and priests have either not believed or have lost their boldness of preaching the Truth. Or perhaps in such a hurry to be unified with other religions, that they have left behind the Truth. And in so doing, have lost the piety and reverence that is deserved and demanded by God in His worship.
In this time between the Resurrection of the Lord and His Ascension, there were lots of teachings and mysteries revealed directly by Jesus to His apostles. Jesus had already breathed the fire of the Holy Spirit on the apostles. Yet, they still were timid, fearful of speaking out and confronting those who disagreed with them. They were still slow and trembling yet, they were enlightened and opened to the Word.
Indeed Jesus Christ had suffered and died, risen and He was the Resurrected Body. The Truth was clear to them and they were filled with great joy.
And once Pentecost came, they would be emboldened, with no fear, no doubt, no backing down.
PAPA came to be because of a need to have priests on fire for Jesus and His Church, the Body and Bride of Christ and to bring souls to heaven. It is only the priest, in the person of Christ, the Head, in the Church, who can change bread and wine to the Body and Blood of Jesus. He is the living and transparent image of Christ.
Because they are human and can be affected by the world, flesh and the devil, we pray daily for them. All this through the work of the Holy Spirit. Pray the Prayer for Priest
I will praise you, Lord, among the nations; I will tell of your name to my kin.
