WEDNESDAY OF THE THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT DECEMBER 15, 2021

A reading of the holy Gospel according to Lk 7:18b-23

At that time, John summoned two of his disciples and sent them to the Lord to ask, “Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?” When the men came to the Lord, they said, “John the Baptist has sent us to you to ask, ‘Are you the one who is to come, or should we look for another?’” At that time Jesus cured many of their diseases, sufferings, and evil spirits; he also granted sight to many who were blind. And Jesus said to them in reply, “Go and tell John what you have seen and heard: the blind regain their sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the good news proclaimed to them. And blessed is the one who takes no offense at me.”

REFLECTION

“Go and tell John what you have seen and heard"

Saint Augustine once said:

"When I want to speak to you, I look for a way to share with your heart what is already in mine.
The word which the sound has brought to you is now in your heart, and yet it is still also in mine."

Jesus spoke words of healing— the physical healing and forgiveness of sins.

Jesus listed His works, the tangibles: the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news brought to them.

He lives in our hearts. His love embellishes our ordinary lives. Jesus comes with victory and strength. What joy to hear, see and have Jesus living in us.

At times we may think all those works are in the past. But we walk in faith, meekness, humility, obedience and fear of the Lord. Jesus still is at work in this world.

When we feel that our lives are not what we expected or wanted--STOP--in place of this feeling, thank God for the Word planted in our hearts. No matter what the world says and does, Jesus lives in us in victory. Not one thing can take that away from us, unless we choose to give it away.

THOUGHT OF THE DAY: Allow Jesus to heal us with peace, reconciling us with our past. Nothing is impossible for God.

God Bless You
