Jesus said to the crowds, "I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me will never hunger, and whoever believes in me will never thirst. But I told you that although you have seen me, you do not believe. Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day."
REFLECTION
And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day.
Though it is a time of joy and happiness, the sacrifice of abstinence, fasting, performing corporal works of mercy, and intimate prayer with the Lord can still be performed. Unfortunately for me they have hit a “bump” in the road. The Lord is saying, “I saw you through Lent, and I know you can do it”.
Yes, God is in control, but we, too, play a role in our day to day relationship with God. Make time for morning and evening prayers, daily Mass, visits to the Blessed Sacrament. Put the phone down and choose to prefer God, before all else. Continue feeding the poor, donating to the pregnancy resource center, clearing out closets and making small daily sacrifices for others, as well as for the election of the new Pope.
Discipline and prayer help keep an open line with God. He has promised…”And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day”.
