Gospel

Jesus said to the crowds: "To what shall I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children who sit in the marketplace and call to one another, 'We played the flute for you, but you did not dance. We sang a dirge, but you did not weep.' For John the Baptist came neither eating food nor drinking wine, and you said, 'He is possessed by a demon.' The Son of Man came eating and drinking and you said, 'Look, he is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.' But wisdom is vindicated by all her children."

REFLECTION

“We played the flute for you, but you did not dance.”

God knows what is best for us and can take care of us better than we can.

Many times we are unable to know what is best for us because of poor judgment, feelings, moods and prejudices. We can be so unwilling to let go of our egos or

self-will; therefore not allowing God to work in us.

Jesus is the light of our joy. Whatever He allows us to experience, we can either use to improve our lives or we can refuse to accept it. With God there is neither guessing or error so it is always best to follow His music to find joy and love. As a Catholic my behavior should be modeled on Christ and this means making some adjustments in my attitude.

In spite of what is done, people still refuse to accept His Word and therefore lack healing and spiritual recovery. Let’s not be proud that we find ourselves being deaf to His voice and not willing to follow Him. As St Paul said in 1 Timothy 3:15, “You should know how to behave in the household of God”.

God bless you
