After Jesus left the synagogue, he entered the house of Simon.Simon's mother-in-law was afflicted with a severe fever, and they interceded with him about her.He stood over her, rebuked the fever, and it left her.She got up immediately and waited on them.At sunset, all who had people sick with various diseases brought them to him.He laid his hands on each of them and cured them. And demons also came out from many, shouting, "You are the Son of God."But he rebuked them and did not allow them to speakbecause they knew that he was the Christ. At daybreak, Jesus left and went to a deserted place. The crowds went looking for him, and when they came to him, they tried to prevent him from leaving them. But he said to them, "To the other towns alsoI must proclaim the good news of the Kingdom of God,because for this purpose I have been sent."And he was preaching in the synagogues of Judea.
REFLECTION
"for this purpose I have been sent."
Simon's mother- in-law was very sick with a high fever and immediately upon being healed, she did what she most likely did well...she waited on them.
We are reminded that to do something well in the future, we must prepare for it in the present. We cannot love doing in the present, such as helping people, caring for them, performing charitable acts of mercy, when we have not done in the past.
Do we find joy in the little things of life? In every moment of our lives the Holy Spirit is there to guide us and show us the good joy we can attain when we do what needs to be done and should be done for the Kingdom of Heaven.
If we do good now then with His help our good can be our better in the future and as we respond to His promptings our better becomes our best.
If you still don't know the purpose in your life, get off a moment from this busy highway, stop and reassess by finding a deserted place and ask the Holy Spirit for assistance. Trust that in His merciful love you will serve Him with your best now and in the future.
