Meditating on the second Luminous mystery during my drive to morning Mass today, I recalled several events of my life and asked myself if I had taken Mary's advice, “Do whatever He tells you to do”.
Where was I when evil showed how bad evil could be?
I was on my way to work after dropping off my children at school. Today is the 24th anniversary of the Twin Tower attacks. We should not forget that over 2700 people died and others died years later from pulmonary complications and cancers. The National September 11 Memorial and Museum in Lower Manhattan introduced me to the individuals, their stories, their pictures and their loved ones left behind. Many brave souls rushed to help, sacrificing their lives for others.
I was driving home from church on a hot August day and the radio was blaring the shocking news of Catholic children shootings in Minneapolis during a school wide Mass. Two children were killed and 17 others are either still in the ICU or hospitalized with injuries. Many brave actions were noted in that older students and teachers shielded the little students at the cost of their own safety. Many brave souls rushed to help, sacrificing their lives to help others.
Yesterday, again the radio was the bearer of bad news. Driving home, the somber voice delivered the news that conservative Christian activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated. Mr. Kirk was a young, vibrant Christian who never hesitated to talk about Jesus and lately about His Mother Mary. With his God given gifts of intelligence, eloquent speaking and debating, his forum was to go to the young adults especially in colleges and debate them regarding Christian views, how abortion takes the life of a human, explaining how the Woke, transgenderism and LGBTQ lifestyle were not moral, the sacredness of marriage and families. His debates were through reason and facts, no yelling, no name calling, no making fun of people. In spite of death threats, he continued his college tours, respecting the person debating him. He lost his life yesterday by an assassin.
How will we respond to Mother Mary’s advice, “ Do whatever He tells you to do”? Will we say “yes” ?
Please pray for the September 11, 2001 victims, the children of Annunciation School and Charlie Kirk's soul, his wife and two children.
God Bless You

Thank you Olivia. In an interview somebody asked Charlie Kirk how would he liked to be remembered after his death. To what he responded: “I want to be remembered for courage for my faith.” Makes one ponder if our faith is sting enough.
