Gospel Jn 6:37-40

Jesus said to the crowds: “Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life, and I shall raise him on the last day.”

Reflection

Have you ever wondered what it means when someone says, "God's Will be done."? Simply put, to me it means for the person saying it, that they want God's Will in their lives. This seems to be a statement that a lot of people are using lately. Many of the people that I know, that have a desire to be holy, tend to say this. A friend of mine who had cancer, would like to pray when I came over to her house. We would pray for her family and for her healing and she would always say, "God's Will be done". What exactly does that mean? Why would she say this? When you say something like that, it's like all control seems to be lost. Did she not want to be healed? If you say this, it is almost like you are putting your life into God's hands. Did she really trust God that much to where she meant what she said?

Why would Jesus say, "I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me."? Did He say it because He also wants us to do the Will of God? So if Jesus wants us to do God's Will, what does that look like in our lives?

I do not have answers, just a lot of questions. We live here on this earth, just like Jesus did 2023 years ago. It is interesting to think about this fact. Jesus lived God's Will, and there are so many people around the world that are living God's Will and we do not see it as a blessing.

I think this song by Martina McBride called God's Will has a beautiful story, I hope you enjoy it. After you watch it, please take a look at this Prayer for the Nascent Babies and pray to save the lives of so many beautiful blessings in our world that are God's Will.
