Thursday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time, July 20, 2023

Gospel

Mt 11:28-30

Jesus said:

"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,

and I will give you rest.

Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,

for I am meek and humble of heart;

and you will find rest for yourselves.

For my yoke is easy, and my burden light."

"Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, "

Haven't we heard this reading before, and quite recently? Yes. It was on the Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time. This is just a portion of that reading. Well, did we learn anything from it? Do we remember what the Homily was about from our priests?

PAPA had FACE ZBS on the Wednesday after the Fourteenth Sunday of Ordinary Time. Father Michael helped us walk through the Gospel with Jesus. We talked about many things, but the one thing that is lingering with me still, and that I want to learn, is to live in the Spirit of God.

That is what Jesus wants us to learn from Him. He wants us to work on letting go of the works of the flesh, at least the ones that are keeping us away from having a heart to heart relationship with Him.

As we learned in FACE ZBS, each individual is unique and has to learn on their own, how to have this relationship with Jesus. A good place to start is by entering into a new environment, the environment of the Heart of Jesus. The environment of the Holy Spirit. This is the environment that St. Joseph and The Blessed Virgin Mary lived with Jesus.

When we use our will to abstain from something bad (bad habit), we need the help of God. Entering into this new environment is the help God gives. By doing this we create time and space for those we love.

To live in order, the order of the Holy Spirit, we can bring Heaven to ourselves and others around us. This is where we can find rest for ourselves and be able to give up all our burdens.
