R. (see 7) You have given your Son rule over the works of your hands.
O LORD, our Lord,
how glorious is your name over all the earth!
What is man that you should be mindful of him,
or the son of man that you should care for him?
R. You have given your Son rule over the works of your hands.
You have made him little less than the angels,
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You have given him rule over the works of your hands,
putting all things under his feet.
R. You have given your Son rule over the works of your hands.
All sheep and oxen,
yes, and the beasts of the field,
The birds of the air, the fishes of the sea,
and whatever swims the paths of the seas.
R. You have given your Son rule over the works of your hands.
REFLECTION: "O LORD, our Lord, how glorious is your name over all the earth!"
Most of the time we pray to God asking for something: "Please Lord, give me health", "Please give me..."
And that is great. He himself told us to ask Him for what we need.
A few less times we thank God for the favors received.
And much less we praise His name.
Sixty three years ago, in 1958, the US received its first lawsuit asking for prayer to be removed from schools. In 1962 the Bible was no longer read in schools, and in 1963 prayer was banned.
In June 2019, the government of Alaska opened their invocation meeting with a prayer to Satan.
Last week, during the opening session of Congress a representative from Missouri closed the invocation prayer with the phrase "A-men, and A-women". Using a word that is a plea to God into an expedient way to claim gender exclusivility.
As a country, we have not only gotten rid of God but we made Him less than other gods, even Satan. But now we are also using Him for our own personal advantage and social/political advancement.
We need to return to God. To humble ourselves before Him, and proclaim His name all over the land.
How?
Saying the Jesus Prayer.
Inhale...
Exhaling only half of your breath say: Jeee-sus...
Pause.
While finishing exhaling say: Mercy.
Inhale....
Repeat His name all the time.
The saints did. Why not we as well?
Glorify His Name. Especially this January, month of the Holy Name. Glorify Him. Especially in atonement for all the offenses we have allowed against His Holy Name.
That in the Name of Jesus every knee should bow of those that are in Heaven, on earth, and under the earth (Phil 2:10)
