WEDNESDAY OF THE TWENTY-SIXTH WEEK IN ORDINARY TIME, SEPTEMBER 28, 2022

A reading of the holy Gospel according to Lk 9:57-62

As Jesus and his disciples were proceeding on their journey, someone said to him, "I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus answered him, "Foxes have dens and birds of the sky have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to rest his head." And to another he said, "Follow me." But he replied, "Lord, let me go first and bury my father." But he answered him, "Let the dead bury their dead. But you, go and proclaim the Kingdom of God." And another said, "I will follow you, Lord, but first let me say farewell to my family at home." Jesus answered him, "No one who sets a hand to the plow and looks to what was left behind is fit for the Kingdom of God."

REFLECTION

"Follow me."

We heard "Follow me" several times this month in the Scriptures. Jesus does not accept any excuses, delays, conditions, betrayals or late starts. Are we willing to radically follow Jesus or do we have codizels to our commitment?

Since our baptism we carry the life of Christ. Since our confirmation we carry the gifts of the Holy Spirit. Since our Confession our hearts are cleansed. Since our Communion we are fed with the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Jesus. We are called to live this full life of Jesus. Like St John the Baptist, we are to let Him grow in us as we lessen.

No excuses now. Open your hearts to God and let Him grow in us, always allowing the Holy Spirit full control.

PONDER:

Do I jump when Jesus says, "Follow me"? Perhaps I should.

PRAY:

Let Jesus be the way, the truth and the Life. We won't regret it.

God Bless you
