Last August, a large group of Sacred Heart Church parishioners with our Pastor Father Michael, Deacon Thomas Aquinas as well as Pilgrims from Australia, Netherlands and Canada traveled to Fatima, Portugal to Consecrate our Church and all parishioners to the Immaculate Heart of Mary and the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
Fr. Michael (after being asked by some of the pilgrims) looked and found 2 of the most beautiful statues to bring back to Sacred Heart Church! The quality and uniqueness of these statues was spectacular, a statue of Our Lady of Fatima with the 3 shepherd children and a statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. These statues were purchased and carefully shipped back to us as a gift to all parishioners. They have been blessed and now grace our church! The statues of Our Lady and the 3 children are on the right side of the church with a kneeler and candles, where visitors may visit and offer prayers. The Sacred Heart of Jesus you will see as you enter the Church. He is offering you His Body and precious Blood in the Holy Eucharist. This is the perfect image of Jesus to use as teaching tool to instruct our young children about the Holy Eucharist. Sunday, May 13th, 2018 is the 101 year anniversary of Our Lady of Fatima's first apparition! About 30 of us gathered after the
5:00 P.M. Mass and prayed the Rosary, sang “Fatima’s Cove “ song and brought flowers to Our Lady of Fatima. It was a beautiful spiritual experience. Olivia suggested we do it again.
We will pray on May 20th and May 27th after 5:00 P.M. Mass. May is the month of Mary!! Sacred Heart parishioners are blessed to have these very special statues in our church! Thank you, Fr. Michael for planning and organizing the Pilgrimage to Fatima and helping us know and love Jesus more through His Blessed Mother. It was truly a beautiful life-changing trip for all of us! Let us all do as our Blessed Mother asked, “Pray the Rosary daily to obtain peace for the world and the end of the war”. Our Lady of Fatima’s first apparition was May 13, 1917.
