Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You have faith in God; have faith also in me. In my Father’s house there are many dwelling places. If there were not, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back again and take you to myself, so that where I am you also may be. Where I am going you know the way. ”Thomas said to him, “Master, we do not know where you are going; how can we know the way? ”Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
REFLECTION
”Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
Faith increases our hope and hope strengthens our faith. As we get to know Jesus, we realize that He is absolutely reliable, trustworthy. Through the glorified body of Jesus, all humanity comes to dwell with the Father. Faith and the Holy Spirit will make this possible.
His response when St Thomas has no idea where He is going says it all. Jesus said to him, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” It is very comforting. Jesus is the only One who has come down from heaven, and He is the only One who can bring us to His Father.
At the our of our death, Jesus promises to come down, embrace us and bring us to His Father, in holy union of love. What Joy as we depart this life, we will see the face of God. I pray that is what my future holds.
