Alleluia Jn 13:34

I give you a new commandment:

love one another as I have loved you.

REFLECTION

"I give you a new commandment: love one another as I have loved you."

Many years ago I was watching Mother Angelica 's show in EWTN and she said one of her funny sayings that really stuck to my memory:

“If it wasn’t for people we could all be holy.”

Early in the morning I can say my prayers, and set my daily goal. Feel really good about the day, and by the time I'm done with my first cup of coffee I will most likely have blown it, and I am ready to "throw the towel".

Why? Maybe the kids didn't want to wake up in time; the dog was barfing; people at work didn't do their assigned tasks; an appliance broke in the house; and I made the mistake of watching morning news...

I may try to start the day by feeling lovely towards other, but their attitudes make me feel like I'm going to lose it. Their "bad vibes" might be contagious and dampen my intentions.

So what to do?

On my own, not much. I try to remember to say the Jesus prayer every time something, or someone stressful is trying to steer me away from my surrender to God.

The Jesus prayer is one of the most ancient prayers of Christianity. It is simply to invoke Jesus's name, and fill our minds, our lungs, and our hearts with His Holy Name:

Inhale: Jee

Exhale: sus!

Pray this many times a day. Bring Jesus inside of you. Exhale Him to others.

God bless y'all!
