TUESDAY IN THE OCTAVE OF EASTER

John 20:15-16

“Sir, if you carried him away,

tell me where you laid him,

and I will take him.”

Jesus said to her, “Mary!”

She turned and said to him in Hebrew, “Rabbouni,”

which means Teacher.

REFLECTION

How well did Mary of Magdala know Jesus? When Mary looked at Jesus, who did she see? A holy man, her rescuer, an exorcist, her teacher, the Messiah, or did she see God?

Mary was one of the women who followed Jesus and helped His Mother take care of Him and His disciples as they went from town to town listening and learning from Jesus. Mary was faithful to her work, cleaning, gathering food, cooking, sewing, and learning. She was learning more and more about Jesus every day. But did she really know Jesus?

Mary had been left at the tomb weeping. When she saw Jesus she said,

“Sir, if you carried him away,

tell me where you laid him,

and I will take him.”

Jesus said to her, “Mary!”

When Jesus called her name, Mary knew that Jesus was alive! He was resurrected!

Christos Anesti! Christ is risen!

Alithos Anesti! Truly He is risen!
