Tuesday of the Third Week of Easter

Gospel Jn 6:30-35

The crowd said to Jesus:

"What sign can you do, that we may see and believe in you?

What can you do?

Our ancestors ate manna in the desert, as it is written:

He gave them bread from heaven to eat."

So Jesus said to them,

"Amen, amen, I say to you,

it was not Moses who gave the bread from heaven;

my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.

For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven

and gives life to the world."

So they said to Jesus,

"Sir, give us this bread always."

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life;

whoever comes to me will never hunger,

and whoever believes in me will never thirst."

REFLECTION

"Sir, give us this bread always."

Jesus said to them, "I am the bread of life;

whoever comes to me will never hunger,

and whoever believes in me will never thirst."

Have you ever been hungry? I mean without food for more than a week or a month.

I can not say that I have.

Our PAPA Joe committee has been helping starving children in poor countries like Venezuela. The Catholic parishes that we help there are so grateful when we are able to send them baby formula, medicines, diapers, and other basic needs for the infants, that they send us videos and pictures of the children holding the items saying you thank you.

As time passes the people share updates of how our donations of food have helped the children to grow and gain weight. Their little bodies are no longer emaciated, but now they look healthy and happy.

Feeling hungry yourself is painful but more painful is seeing and hearing the young children crying and so malnourished because of starvation.

What can we do? Support groups like PAPA Joe by sending food donations or other organizations who help feed the poor.

Give with a grateful heart! You will gain spiritual graces.
