"Behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son,
and you shall name him Jesus.
He will be great and will be called Son of the Most High,
and the Lord God will give him the throne of David his father,
and he will rule over the house of Jacob forever,
and of his kingdom there will be no end."
But Mary said to the angel,
"How can this be,
since I have no relations with a man?"
And the angel said to her in reply,
"The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you.
Therefore the child to be born
will be called holy, the Son of God.
And behold, Elizabeth, your relative,
has also conceived a son in her old age,
and this is the sixth month for her who was called barren;
for nothing will be impossible for God."
Mary said, "Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord.
May it be done to me according to your word."
Then the angel departed from her.
REFLECTION
..."nothing will be impossible for God."
As I was meditating in my morning time with God about today's reflection, which would be on the same Gospel already reported on just a few days ago, I decided to sit myself by the computer and put my thoughts in order. But the laptop was in the kitchen, and the kitchen is cold. In my closet, I have three oversized sweaters that belonged to my mom, so I got the one that matched my pajamas. I heard a rustling sound from the pocket and lo and behold, I found a rosary. I had not worn that sweater for over a year. The rosary in my sweater pocket was the beautiful rosary of Divine Mercy given to PAPA members by Father Peter Bui, Redemptorist. I lost it just a few weeks ago, at Church. And now He has reunited me with my rosary.
This is but a small miracle but confirms God's love, His mercy and in all things that nothing is impossible for Him. I can always trust His ways, patiently waiting on Him as He shows His presence over and over again.
There is no reason to look for big events to know God is alive in us. Our daily small mundane lives are a constant conversation with Him. After all, God became man. He freed us from eternal death, showered us with His mercy. He chose to be born in a stable, live in an obscure town, Nazareth. Lived a life of obedience to His parents, suffered brutality, torture and death. He promised our glorification with Him and eternal life in His love.
Our sanctification and our redemption are the greatest gifts God has given us. Every good gift and every perfect gift comes from our Father. Big or small, always thank God for fussing over us.
Jesus wants us. He wants me. He wants your heart. Once He has your heart He can go to work and you will see how mighty are His works in your life. He can change that disposition, that vanity, that pride, that stinginess. He can fashion us in such a way that the Christmas spirit never dies in us. Ask for the impossible. Once He has your heart, wondrous are His deeds and every day He reminds you of how much you are loved.
Tomorrow we celebrate His birth and are reminded of His Second Coming. Merry Christmas to all as we enter the Christmas season.
